the old jail

here's some pictures from some site seeing we did in st augustine last week. we had planned to go to the top of the lighthouse but pearl and fern got denied on account of being too short. they were upset but liked the old jail ok. kaya really liked it alot. actually, fern was a little scared of the weird animatronic figures but she liked some parts. we got to walk around in the grounds of the lighthouse anyway and it is really pretty. i love the big old oak trees here with all the spanish moss and ferns growing on the branches.

we also have been in major creating mode. we been up to all kinds of crafts and i even got out my sewing machine. we did some painting one day and spent a whole day making necklaces. i got the sewing machine out and kaya made the girls head bands. kaya has been crosstiching and he is way better than the last time he tried :). kaya and i have been playing lots of board games, especially chess. he's having a mental growth spurt i think. in between all his goofiness he's had some serious thoughts going on! he has been really recognizing words lately and using clues to figure out words. just the last couple days he has been asking lots of math questions. adding subtracting and multiplying. i've been showing him how to do stuff and he writes it out on paper. pretty neat.
fern wrote a song today. she said she was wishing bonnie would come out to jump on the trampoline when she thought of it. it went "butterfly butterfly come out and play" over and over and the at the end there was something that totally made sense and rhymed but now i cant think of it! i knew i should have written it down right away. hopefully she'll remember tomorrow. she had the tune and everything just right. she really loves music and i am always surprised how well she and pearl remember the words to so many songs. i think im going to go cuddle between them in bed now :)
